Ethics and Safety

At Hampshire Lawncraft we pride ourselves on treating lawns ethically and encouraging the environmental conditions to develop as naturally as possible to be conducive to healthy lawn growth.

Only use what is needed for healthy lawn growth

We use precision tools to measure the size of your lawn and carefully calibrated equipment that is audited after every application to be sure of delivering the precise quantity of product required, ensuring we never use any more product than is needed to achieve the goal.

All the products we use are chosen carefully to ensure they are properly vetted for their quality and use and cause no damage to surrounding wildlife.

Professional application

Your Hampshire Lawncraft expert is fully trained and accredited in applying professional lawn care products and holds the appropriate spray licenses to apply these products.

Organic treatments

Many of our products are organic and we are constantly talking to suppliers about new products that fulfil our requirement to create a healthy lawn ethically. If you would like to discuss organic treatments further, we would be happy to talk to you about the options available on our next visit.

Are the treatments safe for pets?

Yes, all of our treatments are safe for pets. We will sometimes advise that pets and children stay off the lawn for a few hours after certain solutions have been applied, but we will always state this clearly at the time of treatment. Rest assured the treatments are completely safe for your pets, as well as the local birds and wildlife.

Wouldn’t it be more ethical to let my lawn go wild?

Whilst it is true that long grass with extensive wildflower diversity is perfect for wildlife, at Hampshire Lawncraft we believe that an attractive and enjoyable garden gives the best long-term solution. When lawns are left to go completely wild they can often become unruly with single-species domination (brambles, nettles) and ultimately become unpleasant and inaccessible. This can then lead to removal of the lawn, gravelling or worse still plastic grass, an environmental disaster! By maintaining a beautiful lawn as the focal point you can still leave parts of your garden free for wildlife and have a relaxing place from which to enjoy this. At Hampshire Lawncraft we are happy to advise about wilding parts of your lawn so that you can create a haven for wildlife alongside a beautiful lawn for you and your family.

It is surprisingly common for us when treating our customers’ lawns to encounter deer, foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, robins, blackbirds and many other birds and animals also enjoying the carpet of grass. It is also worth considering that a 100 square metre lawn will capture around 100kg of atmospheric carbon per year, whilst also releasing enough oxygen to meet the requirements of even the largest family.
